What kernel you using that is updated so often?? if its 2.6, thats the price you pay 
for using it as its always going to be updated..

why not just use protage.mask and then when you want to update your kernel, remove 
it... Just keep up with the announce list in case of security concerns..

personally, I have not seen my kernel come up in awhile..
