Hello to all! Could someone please explain me (step by step) how to connect two computers running Linux through a x-over cable? What if one of these computers is running WindowsXP?

It's very simple ...
just connect the cross cable to both PC's (doesn't matter on OS)
setup IP-ies to eth interfaces (it was discussed here plenty times) ... that's it!
