As well as commercial is not the same as non-free.
Outside of Debian, I think people consider software "free" if they can download it, use it, and NOT have to pay for it. I do at least.
Adobe's Acrobat Reader or Netscape Navigator (v4.x, for example) are "free" in my opinion. They're not to you, are they ?? Same with Opera's web browser. Yes ??
