That's interesting. my NIC isn't being detected at boot. I tried net-setup,
but that didn't detect it either.
Before i forget: i'm using the RTL onboard controller, not the
onboard 3COM controller. I'm connecting to the net thru' a Linux
gateway, so i don't need both network controllers on my NForce box,
and so i've never tested the 3COM controller. I'm using RTL network
cards on all computers i have/had for many years now, and it's just
extreme solid & stable, even if 3COM is no doubt a top-class vendor.
I've installed Gentoo from the basic CD (stage 1) and net-setup
worked flawless.
