Come to think of it, I had to recompile the kernel with ACPI too. For the wireless, I had to use the linuxant.com solution, since the Linksys (Broadcom chip) 802.11g wifi integrated in my laptop hasn't been reversed engineered by the Linux driver gods yet. I also haven't bothered to get the DVD player or CD burner working yet, but I've done both before on laptops, so I know it's possible.
