About the nvidia patch: really, it's not that difficult. The "walkthrough" that is on 
minion.de is quite thorough and simple.

And, if you have the accelerated nvidia driver installed on a 2.4 kernel. then all you 
will need to do is this:
extract the NVIDIA_***.run archive# cd /path/to/nvidia/extracted/files/usr/src/nv
patch -p1 < /path/to/patch

after that you do only make install and you hev a working nvidia module :-)

(But this is only if you have the module installed on a 2.4 kernel)
