  Just to add to the list of results here is what I found.

  I am running a Ti4400 on VIA chipset (Shuttle AK31A MB).  The 5336
series gives me a 5% drop compared to 4496.  I also noticed when I use
the 5336 drivers that glxgears is visually choppy while with 4496 it
looks very smooth, despite such a small difference in fps.  I have tried
acpi=off and 2.6.1, 2.6.1-r1 kernels with no change in the results.  I
get the best results using agpgart: nvidia gives me only about 2200
fps.  I have had no lock-up problems with either revision of the nvidia
drivers.
