Mind you, I think all the discussion on this list recently of the "binary" & "DRI" drivers has only confused me.
two basic things you need to do is modify your /etc/X11/XF86Config and in the modules section add:
Load "glx" and remove : Load "dri"
Okies... so I think I need to emerge the nvidia-glx package, too..?
Also, in the Device section that has your video card in it, change the driver to "nvidia" instead of the standard 'vesa' or 'nv'.
That won't affect my VESA framebuffer..?
