I just noticed that my Gentoo root partition has almost 28 GB

All my personal stuff is in other directories, AFAIK.

Anybody have a clue what I should look for? I need this sucker

du -sk --max-depth=1
That will tell you where the most space is taken up, then go into
that directory, and run the command again, and again, and again. There is probably a better way ( I normally only use that on 200mb
home directories at work ).

Did you test this command? :-)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~]$ du -sk --max-depth=1
du: warning: summarizing conflicts with --max-depth=1
Try `du --help' for more information.

O.o my memory failed me :P drop the -s.

Ciao
Francesco
