Bjoern, thanks for you major contributions on this thread... very
helpfull.   Now about that slippery ground...

That is of course not by default as I stipulated.  That is, mutt comes
from mutt developers in a release pkg.  That pkg understands mbox with
no tweaking (by default) not maildir or some other formats.
