Does dmesg say anything about forcedeth or eth* ?

It doesn't have a chance, the minimal ISO CD hangs up right after detecting the keyboard. 
If I boot kernel option "gentoo debug *"
it prints:

/bin/sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
