KDE actually specifies how to build without any multimedia (audio and video) support: https://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/CMake#Command_Line_Variables cmake command line variable: KDE4_DISABLE_MULTIMEDIA=ON: Build KDE without any multimedia (audio and video) support. -- Joost
