And why are you compiling your software on a low-power embedded platform? That's the point where you are doing it wrong. I'll bet power consumption with Gentoo is even better because you don't have all features enabled. If you install OSes compile software for embedded stuff usually you should compile your stuff somewhere else. Gentoo even provides a framework for it with BINHOST stuff. Cheers, Andrej
