I am sorry to hear this. I believe it is an important role in current gentoo process. I do not know very much of the details, so I do not have a very much informed oppinion. > Although you don't strictly need to use a gentoo live-cd to install gentoo, > we try to provide a kernel that's compatible with most hardware. I have been able to install gentoo using SystemRescueCD and Sabayon live-cd, this is why I believe it is a kernel issue. My worry is that somebody that wants to start with gentoo could have a very hard time during the installation process. In fact, I was showing "how easy" was to install gentoo: "just follow the guide" (as I did a year ago). I was surprised with the issues I had, and it would had been much easier if in the guide said something like: "if you had any issue with Gentoo live-cd you could use another live CD to follow this guide, for example...". We finally installed gentoo, and both SystemRescueCD and Sabayon live-cd were able to detect the hard disk. I belive this issue will be resolved when the 2007.1 live-cds are released. Thanks very much for the answer. Abrazos! -- Joanet -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
