Dear George,
I very much agree with you. Because I am a (happy) gentoo user, I was able to
install gentoo despite the gentoo-live-cd did not detect my hard disc
correctly (I used SystemRescueCD and Sabayon). I was worried about users that
are not used to gentoo and want to start using it following the
gentoo-handbook. Nevertheless, I might have done someting wrong during the
installation process. My IDE interface is:
00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev 01)
00:05.0 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SATA Controller / IDE
mode (rev 03)
Thanks very much for your answer.
If it recognised the net driver it should have recognised your SATA
driver. Those drivers have been in the kernel since 2.6.10 (or is it 2.6.14)
