Correction: The Arctic Ocean's cross-sectional profile of sea ice thickeness 
was 177.4 cm (not 177.7 cm as I previously said).  This is the average of 1,500 
thickeness measurements between Canada and North Pole covering much of the 
distance between the two points.
 
177.4 cm is about the height of average adult man.  In comparison the annual 
lake ice in the North Finland is 120 cm and it always melts away before end of 
July.  Gone are those days when the Arctic Ocean sea ice measured 4 metres and 
6 metres, even more.
