James Fleming writes that we cannot test geo-engineering on smaller than
planetary scale.
There is a description of a small practical test at

and an idea for a larger-scale computer experiment to locate good and
bad places at

The first would improve accuracy and increase add confidence in the
predictions of the second. Criticism and suggestions for improvements
would be welcome.
Ken has pointed out that we are already carrying out an dangerous
planetary test which we do not understand. Lowell says that we started
it thousands of years ago.
