"I have thus far seen no viable CDR scenarios that depend on
social/political/economic change alone in the absence of major technological
shifts. "

The so-called Green Revolution to food production across the planet has been
almost exclusively been at the price of significant increased fossil fuel
consumption for production of fertilisers and pesticides, and the rapid loss of
soil organic matter/carbon and huge erosion of soils. Soils in Southern Europe
are well on their way to desertification. No doubt there is a very similar
story on another continents.
Scenario- Strategy for Carbon sequestration to reinstate the planets sick
arable and grassland soils might be a win-win, (carbon sequestration,
ecosystems, flood/drought mitigation, animal welfare, nutritional value of
food, human health) and no regrets solution for a couple of decades?
