I was astonished at how few it seemed and asked them to point out my mistakes or suggest other assumptions. Three changes have been made to this draft so I feel brave enough to circulate it more widely. Please let me know if I have screwed up. Please also let me know if you would be able to check similar calculations for Arctic ice, the Barrier Reef and an El Niño event. We cannot be sure that there will always be some spray vessels where they are needed. However the cost of owning a fleet of a hundred on standby would seem low compared with the cost of not having them provided that the capitalist system can figure out a way to pay for something that did not happen.
