Hi Greg,
Having watched this debate ove the last to two day I'd like to add my
two cents worth. The biggest problem that I have every time a new
service pack or release comes out, and this includes Beta Releases, is
the lack of documentaion on what is new or different in each release.
This was especially critical in the Beta for both 4.2 and 4.3. If beta
testers are going to get the most out of testing the software we need to
test what is new or different on different data sets. The list you
provided yesterday was the most detailed set of information I have seen
on V4.3. This is more critical in GX Developer when there is never any
notification of new features and functions.
I agree that the helps is not as good as it could be but as far as a PDF
vs Help file comment goes I personally prefer the Help files. They are a
lot easier to navigate around, provided the links are finished! There
have been a lot of comments on moving to HTML, It takes a lot longer to
open explorer or netscape to read an html with vastly more amounts of
memory consumed and swapping going to accomidate all the bits and pices
of add-ins etc that html readers want to use. Help files are far more
friendly on the computer resources than HTML. Unless you want to provide
your own HTMl reader.
Cheers
David
