Hello Mwape,
If you calculate the square km and multiply by 10 you will have a pretty
good idea. If it is a complicated shape then other considerations will
come into play, but generally speaking this will give you a reasonable
estimate. Don't forget about tie lines. If you use a 10:1 ratio, you
will need to add on another 10%.
