I'm working with GeoNode on Mac OS 10.6.8 with Python 2.7.2 and installed all dependencies through the homebrew package manager. The only caveat I remember was getting Maven 2.2.1, homebrew ships version 3 by default.
To get Maven 2.2.1 I checked out https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew/commit/5ad392b4197e083b00a076f0ba1b1b8ab3aee0cb , the last commit before maven.rb was updated to Maven 3.
