Hi Robert,
It would be beneficial to all if you posted what error you are getting, rather
than trying different versions of things until something works. Do you have
verbose logging turned on? Any exceptions in there? Are you using an existing
data directory or have you tried with a clean data directory? Are you using
Geoserver standalone or within Tomcat, or other application server?
I've seen Geoserver 2.0.2 working on Ubuntu 8.04 under Tomcat 5.5 or 6; I'm
sure it will work standalone too. Let us know what's going on :)
