Lol I think Andrea got mixed up - I use the geoserver REST Api do do exactly
what you want
Load layer into postgis with ogr2ogr
register datastore with rest api if not already done
register layer with rest api
update sld for layer with rest api
retrieve layer url via rest api and chuck in my django app
Using libcurl for all of the above, can also use curl cmdline client. I'd
recommend curl/libcurl as it deals with encodings/headers/auth better than
most of the other frameworks I've used.
