As far as I know Java 7 is a little ways off in terms of being the baseine
for GeoServer. GeoServer 2.2 will be the first release that requires java
6. If history repeats itself we could go through a few more major release
iterations before upgrading the required version of java again. That said,
there is nothing stopping anyone from deploying java 7 but we do tell our
clients to use java 6. I personally don't know of any issues deploying java
7. If you do try please do share your findings.
