Just noticed now that you're using JDK7. GeoServer is not tested on such
JDK,
in fact we know some minor functionality does not work properly with it.

That said, I've been running GeoServer for development purposes on JDK 7
since a few months ago, using Oracle JDK 7, on a Ubuntu 64 bit box,
and have seen no issue so far
