Wow, while I've seen minor issues running on JDK 7 I haven't seen any
problem loading styles or connecting to shapefile/postgis.
As said, when I start GeoServer on my dev machine it often runs on Oracle
JDK 7.
I'm setting up a build server on OpenJDK 7 ( http://aaime.no-ip.org/jenkins/)
and fixing issues on trunk as I find them, right now it's still not building
but I believe I'm one patch away from making it work.
I've also been working on making the GeoServer build work at all on Windows,
that is already a reality, again, on trunk only (the fact that we build
successfully
or not on Windows has a weak correlation to the fact we can run on it at
all,
often problems are in the tests themselves).
I guess JDK7 + Windows might be a combination that causes even more
trouble...
