Nahum,

CentOS (and other Red Hat derived distributions) run a daily prelink
cron job:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prelink

This (or normal system updates) almost certainly explains the changes
you see in libc.

A nonprivileged user will not be able to modify your libc.

JDK 7 is not supported. GeoServer failures with JDK 7 are expected.

If you see system corruption, you likely have a hardware problem. (This
is now off-topic for this list.)

Please conduct the following hardware tests:

(1) Run Memtest86+ for 24 hours to test for bad RAM. This utility should
be present as a syslinux boot option on all Red Hat installation media:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86

(2) Run mprime/Prime95 for 24 hours
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime95#Use_for_stress_testing
You can obtain mprime (64-bit Linux) here:
http://mersenne.org/freesoft/

The command under Linux for stress testing is "mprime -t".

If your computer can run "mprime -t" for 24 hours without errors, your
computer is "prime stable". This only tests your motherboard, CPU and
RAM. If you see errors, it means that your hardware is unreliable.

Also install smartmontools and use smartctl to run HDD self-tests.

Kind regards,
Ben.
