Hi Andrea,

Thanks for your reply!!

My case is kind simple. We just want to locate the saved the output images so
we can forward it to the front end with a published URL (ie.
http://localhost:8080/output/123456789.png). Since we already have the ability
to generate the URL and send it over to front end with a valid image, I just
want to know is GeoServer capable of providing us a valid image or a valid
image URL as shown above?

Once again, your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

I think those images are streamed directly and not stored on disk.

Correct. This is valid for all services, not just WMS, for the same reason you
cited (and performance too).

There are only a few "exceptional" formats that we have to store on disk before
sending, only because it cannot be helped,

e.g. any multi-file stored in a zip, geopackage/mbtiles.

I seem to vaguely remember that there is an option where the image would be
stored as a temp file before being sent to the client but i may be wrong

You might be thinking about the service strategy, set in web.xml, which can be
set to "BUFFER".

That's also just a temporary file, deleted the moment the response is fully
sent.

Chen, you might get more useful answers if you tell us what you're trying to
address (e.g, are you trying to cache stuff?

Do you see temporary file creation and don't know where it's coming from?)

Cheers

Andrea
