Andrea we are in close agreement; we both don't want to see a huge 
dependency - and would like something more fine grained. I do not want 
to see
many little jars - especially when some of the specifications slot together.

xml compatibility pack 1:
- filter1_0, gml2, jts

xml compatibility pack 2:
- filter1_1, gml3, geometry.wkt

Would you consider that kind of thing sane?
