I was wondering if the idea was any good; talking to you it sounds like it is. How about this (we - ie both of us) make an additional grammar (geotools specific) called "txt" as part of the CQL module that shares 90% of the code. We would need to define the grammar as a BNF (that matches what we do with filter).
