Easy, take the plan of "only use that which applies to all datastores" 
and validate it against the only *concrete* use case we have which is 
johanns widget stuff. If the minimal set we come up works for him then 
we are done. Anything that we think we might need in the future can go 
in a subclass for that particular implementor to worry about.
