Hey, calm down. Since I am the developer of this module I want to get some
things clear.

1) This module is intended to give geotools the same capabilities for image
handling as ARCSDE does.
2) This module will support any jdbc database capable of handling BLOBs,
additionally supporting ths spatial
    extensions for db2,oracle,mysql and postgis.
3) I try to keep the db design as simple as possible, otherwise supporting
different databases would be a
    hard job.
4) I do not want to have a competition with postgrid, after finishing the
GSOC project we could start a
    discussion how to go on.
5) Please understand that there are other companies not using POSTGIS, for
my part I have to focus on
DB2, postgrid would not help me. I decided to make a universal design
(which is not so easy) to get
part of the geotools library, giving my customers the feeling not to
produce code which depends on my
    person.

I hope to clarify the situation
