Awesome. It would be really cool to add support for GeoWebCache, to use it as a datastore. And indeed for general WMS-C,WMTS, TMS, etc. Then GeoServer could backend on to an existing cache.
Simone, after that step is done what more is there to make it so we can fully return WMS from that cache? Will it work right away if it's done right in the coverage infrastructure? I know there's some people who would be very interested in that, basically responding to any WMS requests but leveraging a cache.
