The other way would be to create a EPSG code, but if you need the center of
it to be
user provided, the AUTO projections are the right path

A pull request, with tests, please :)

About the code, we need to make sure the code won't end up conflicting with
the OGC ones.
If this was EPSG we could just pick a code > 100000, but I'm not sure which
policy OGC
used to pick the auto projection codes...
