HI. I'm using GeoTools to render shapefiles into a JPanel in a java app,
and I'm using SLD files for the styling. I've not worked with SLD
files before, and I'm wondering: how do people usually compose an SLD
file? Does everyone pretty much write them by hand? If so, are there
good tutorials (or books, or chapters in books) on composing SLD files
out there, or does everyone just read the OGC spec and figure it out
from there? I've got the spec and have been reading it, but I'm
impatient, so I'd love to see a good quick-start tutorial, if one
exists. Or, are there tools that will let you style with a GUI and
then save it to an SLD file?

I know this isn't a GeoTools-specific question, but I thought I'd start
with this list since I'm using GeoTools in this project. I'd appreciate
any suggestions. Thanks!
