For the second case (working with pixel coords) what do you about
tiled images ?

I remember a message a while ago where Martin (I think) was talking
about using the JAI iterator classes.  I see in the JAI docs that
there is a RectIter class and a RectIterFactory.create method that
takes a Rectangle for bounds.  This sounds good but does it somehow
take care of tiling for you or do you do this explicitly ? (prob a
silly question but I don't have any experience with tiling).
