Sorry Andrea. I know I was being concise (sloppy) with my description
of the process module. I was trying to keep the post simple :)

Perhaps I can rephrase the question...

I'm interested to know if anyone who has used the r2v conversion has
done so through the process API or just directly using the static
RasterToVectorProcess.convert method. And perhaps following on from
Andrea's report of failure I should also ask if anyone has tried the
current code but couldn't get it to work. I've now rewritten the
algorithm as a JAI operator and I think I've fixed a few bugs that
were lurking in the old code without, I hope, introducing too many new
ones.
