Looks neat.

I think there was quite a bit of work on process annotations while I
was away - yes ?  I'll try to catch up on what happened but right now,
can you tell me if this is relevant to making jai-tools operations
available to GeoTools users as well, or is it GeoServer only ?

Basically, I'd like it to be easy all of the jai-tools operators
(including raster to vector) to be used in a GeoTools desktop
application. Looking at the preliminary unsupported/jai-tools module
that Simone and Daniele have been working on makes think that going
further down that path will result in a lot of boring code
duplication.
