Dear all,
I have not received any hint/tip about this, so I am trying to re-word it to
make it more understandable.

Is there a way, in Geotools, to search the underpinning Coordinate Reference
System Database and retrieve SRS codes applicable for a specific set of bounds,
or other parameters?
Thanks,
M.

Hi All,
We need to implement a simple lookup that will get us from a BBOX in a WGS84
and one other lat/lon based SRS to look-up the best matching planar grid for
the area. Trivial, but I was wondering whether there is a native, built in way
to query against the underpinning geotools projections library, so that we do
not have to store them once more.

My idea is to have a service that takes in a bbox geometry and EPSG SRS (WGS84
or GDA94 supported only) or feature, and return an ESPG:xxx code for a selected
small sbset of allowable planar grids. I just wanted to keep the pointers to
the allowable grids and compare against the records in the underpinning DB,
instead of storgin their bboxes and doing a geometric overlap/within type of
query.

Any hints?
Thanks,
Martin
