Hi,

We have a project that requires sending field data (including position
measured from GPS) back to a server in areas without cell phone coverage. I
presume that this means satellite-based communication. Does anyone have a
good handle on what's possible in terms of data volume and who the relevant
providers would be? We have test cases in Africa and Haiti but need to
consider India and southeast Asia as well. In the medium term, we are
interested in two-way communication.

Suggestions on the field devices are also welcome...we will presumably be
working with something like Android phones but aren't set on this yet.

TIA,

Greg
