Heck, the OSM planet format should be an OGC standard. Unluckily, the OSMF doesn't have all the money Google has, and so it's unable to push for standardization of the OSM format, as Google did for KML. > Is interoperability problem really concentrated in Esri? That's an open standard so > everybody should be able to get it, right? From my experience, NMAs don't want interoperability. What they want is a piece of paper with "interoperability" and a lot of legalese written in it. Or, put another way: For a NMA, "interoperability" means 400 pages worth of documents stating that yes, indeed, there is interoperability. Reminds me of this joke: http://xkcd.com/703/ (As does the word "excellence" and the reasons for joining EU-OSOR) > I really need to stop before I find myself out of a job... *Un*fortunately I don't have that problem right now. Sigh. Damned R&D spending cuts. -- ---------------------------------- Iván Sánchez Ortega <[email protected]> <[email protected]> Torta en masa bien se pasa. _______________________________________________ Geowanking mailing list [email protected] http://geowanking.org/mailman/listinfo/geowanking_geowanking.org
