Hi Frank

I'm happy that you drop in. I'm cc'ing to QGIS developer.This
unfortunate and unclear situation was one of the reasons why I came up
with this question about the "Shapefile of the Future".

That was which made propose to look at the spatial extension of SQLite
3 "the FDO way" [1], since I think this is well done and good
documented (except not being often used?). My idea was to implement
that in OGR and in QGIS natively.

Luckily we could agree on this as open source community and by just
doing it. But before someone starts, I liked to discuss it a little
bit.
