The wonder of distributed systems aside, email is just not as expressive a medium as edge-of-barstool-beer-in-hand, especially for dry Canadian humor...

Well, I guess that leaves me out. My tech's all about propping up

Please, if that's what your tech was 'all' about you probably wouldn't be doing it open source. Even if it's completely unintentional (which
I wouldn't really believe), your tech also props up a majority of the
open source hacker geo world. The wankers wouldn't be able to do any
disruptive stuff if they weren't able to build on many of the same
tools that the big guys use, which is only possible with the niche
you've created. Now the big guys may be funding all of your tech, but
don't think that's what your tech is all about. I suppose if you
really insist on it then we can get all postmodern about the author not
being the one who gets to decide his meaning... But that stuff makes
my head hurt.

Chris,

I hope you didn't take my email too seriously. It was intended
to be humorous and somehow ironic. Somehow, vaguely
implying that the line between old and new isn't so clear
or something ill thought out.

I certainly prefer to think of myself as harnassing the
support of the big guys to provide techs to enable the
little guys.

Best regards,
