Dear GEP-Ed colleagues, With COP-18 having kicked off in Doha today, we would like to bring to your attention a Special Issue of the Review of European Community and International Environmental Law (RECIEL) on 'Mobilizing Climate Change Action beyond the UNFCCC': http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.2012.21.issue-3/issuetoc.
While the UNFCCC continues to be the key forum for dealing with climate change internationally, the Special Issue contains 6 articles that draw attention to the potential of other international institutions to complement the UNFCCC in its efforts to scale up climate change mitigation ambition under the Durban Platform. The contributions to the issue examine a variety of venues, including other multilateral environmental institutions, human rights mechanisms, international trade talks, and small groupings of like-minded countries, and explore how actions under these institutions could contribute to the UNFCCC's objectives. For a limited time period (until 31 December 2012), these articles will be freely available online. The Special Issue contains the following contributions: - 'All Hands on Deck! Mobilizing Climate Change Action beyond the UNFCCC<http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.12011/abstract>', by Remi Moncel and Harro van Asselt - 'Climate Clubs: Can Small Groups of Countries Make a Big Difference in Addressing Climate Change?<http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.12007/abstract>', by Lutz Weischer, Jennifer Morgan and Milap Patel - 'Addressing Sectoral Emissions outside the UNFCCC: What Roles for Multilateralism, Minilateralism and Unilateralism?<http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.12005/abstract>', by Kati Kulovesi - 'Restoring the Climate by Realizing Rights: The Role of the International Human Rights System<http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.12004/abstract>', by Edward Cameron and Marc Limon - 'The Securitization of Climate Change in World Politics: How Close Have We Come and Would Full Securitization Enhance the Efficacy of Global Climate Change Policy?<http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/reel.12008/abstract>', by Shirley V.
