I, too, don't really want the list to move. Only think of all the work
to change links etc.
But I have a good idea (at least that's what it seems to me):
We have Bill and Julian who are both reading and posting on the list
every day. Bill is up while Julian is sleeping and Julian is up while
Bill is sleeping, so it's possible to cover most of the time when people
are posting on the list.
So. If they don't mind the extra work they could both be moderators. As
soon as something inappropriate pops up the one of them who is in charge
will send a note to the sender of that post and at the same time send a
note to the list which informs list members that the post was against
the charter and shouldn't be answered.
To show their authority such messages could have a big *moderator* in
the heading and a slightly smaller (;-)) *moderator* after the
signature. Only Julian and Bill are allowed to use this.
If this is done, and I dare say most people will follow their advice,
trolls and the like will get bored and disappear, whereas there won't be
the need any longer for everyone to tell people what is against the
charter if it is accidentally broken, because we all can wait for two or
three hours till the moderator clears the situation up.
Now, how is this?
I don't think it really helps if we are able to exclude certain persons
because we all know how easy it is to get a new personality.
Anyway, that's my idea and now you can tell me how you like it (Bill and
Julian especially: Consider, you'll have a tiny little bit more work to
do but also about 20 superfluous mails less to go through.)
