gerbil/bird antibiotics

I couldn't find ornacycline at my local petshop.  However, there is a bird
broad-spectrum antibiotic called Ornacyn.  It is in tablet form, and you mix
it with the bird's water.  BUT - it says it is for birds only.  So is this OK
to use on my gerbies, or not???
