I do speak spanish and the word for gerbil would be
gerbil because it is not a native animal and one that
spanish people do not normally come across, it is
derived from our own language, what is called a
cognative word. It would be pronounced air-beel.
I name all of my gerbils in spanish...Why i don't know
but i love the language and it is very pretty.
