Maybe this will help you through the times. I know this helped me out with
the passing of my grandmother - and still hurts to read this. I think some
how this poem might have a place here also. Since it does not mention humans
anywhere.
Author unknown, and has been in major papers many times. It is by far one of
the best poems that answers why things go the way they go.
Take care reading this long and heart felt poem, again it still hurts to
read this today. And all ways will.
My grand mother was buried with this poem at my request, so if you wish,
feel free to give a copy to anyone who needs a lift. Be advised, you will
need a box of tissues and a shoulder to cry on. This poem will most
certainly touch you in many ways - it might even bring back memories of
those who went before you. However - this can be applied to animals as well,
and you will see in the poem titled "GOD and His Garden"
God looked around his garden
and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth,
and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
and the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn't go alone
for part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

I am sorry for those who had a river of tears, and I under stand if you want
to take me off this list. But I felt this might help thouse who lost there
loved ones and yes - pets included.
Take care

Subject: death announcement
We had Sappho put to sleep today. She was very obviously suffering, and
when we brought her to the vet this morning, she said she had fluid in her
lungs and her heart sounded muffled, possibly from a tumor or heart
disease. She hadn't eaten or taken water in over 24 hrs. She couldn't stand
up or hold herself still, so we decided to end her suffering. It was a
difficult decision, but I'm relieved she's not in pain anymore. This is my
first gerbil death, so it's been pretty hard. She'll be missed greatly.
Thanks for listening.
Jill
