Your vet obviously doesn't know much about gerbils. Hamster
fathers may eat their pups, but gerbil fathers certainly
don't. They help the mother raise them. It can be very
stressful for a gerbil mother to raise pups alone. They are
much better off with the father. If you have had him out
less than a day, put him back!
